The NTA/1970s Prison Rights' Movement Ancestral Memorial: Pan Afrikan Organizing: A Struggle for Institutional Memory"

The Annual NTA Ancestral/Elder Memorial - and all our ancestors of the Non Traditional Approach - is co-sponsored by The Resurrection Study Group (RSG) and How Lives Link Altogether! (H.O.L.L.A!), family members and the Spirit(s) of our ancestors. This Ancestral Memorial is to honor the Legacy of the Prison Rights Movement of 1970; The New Prison Movement and The Non Traditional Approach with a focus on honoring Kabaka, Alice and Luqmon. In addition, this event is a ritual of Afrikan Centered Education, with a particular focus on sharing Community Specific Wisdom that has sustained our specific communities over the last 60 years plus ( also, we have a book coming out at the end of the year). In closing, this event is a community specific practice to raise awareness and resources for the Kabaka, Alice and Luqmon Institute to sustain the teachings of the NTA within the communities most impacted by the Criminal Punishment System - Seven Neighborhoods.

Upon completion of this praxis, participants will be able to:

  • Extract and Practice Lessons From Leaders, Elders, & Ancestors’ Experience(s): on the critical and (her)historical lessons, experiences, and victories in the fighting against THE WAR/Afrikan Maafa that are essential to revisit, retell, relive, and resurrect? and what struggles, relationships, processes and practices emerge and/or are uplifted that need to be shared/taught to educate the present-next generation of Black/Afrikan/Indigenous youth and community to sustain the Black Liberation Movement’s institutional memory?

  • Be directly connected to ancestors, elders, family members and community of the Non Traditional Approach Legacy and on going praxis for Black Liberation.
